8 Women's Empowerment Events For Your Next Brand Sponsorship

After the massive, worldwide turnout in support of the Women's March, the first Women's Convention in Detroit last October, Time's Up's takeover of award season, and social media's #MeToo movement, women's voices only continue to grow stronger. Live events, such as marches, speaking engagements, and rallies have allowed seemingly disenfranchised groups to meet in person, share their stories, and foster a movement. Forward-thinking brands need to make women's empowerment a top priority in 2018.

Millennials and Gen Z demand that the brands they align themselves with not only have a clear set of values, but act on those values instead of sitting on the sidelines. Even traditionally "male-focused" brands are reassessing their stance and messaging — whiskey brand Johnnie Walker posted Instagram ads during Women's History month promoting their partnership with Monumental Women NYC, demonstrating their dedication to supporting female empowerment.

LIFEWTR, the PepsiCo water brand whose purpose supports its tagline, “Inspire the mind, restore the body,” has created an array of programs that support these values, in addition to celebrating and amplifying their artwork on every bottle of water. Since launching last year, they’ve set up a mentorship and education program for female artists and have created inspiring projects like #ArtByAWoman that highlighted the underrepresented female visual artists. Most recently, they’ve been actively working to bring art back into public schools.

Brands that recognize the importance of women's empowerment need to understand the spending habits of modern female consumers and align themselves with corresponding cultural moments.

For example:

  • 23% of women 18+ have attended musical performances in the past 12 months
  • 14% of women 18+ have attended state fairs in the past 12 months
  • 9.2% of women 18+ have attended art galleries in the past 12 months

Brands can use these insights to their advantage, ensuring that their female-focused causes and experiences are activated at the most relevant events. Here are eight upcoming festivals, conferences, and trade shows that are prioritizing women's voices (and where you should be planning your next brand sponsorship):

1. Teen Vogue Summit: June 1-3, 2018, NYC

Following the success of our December 2017 debut, the next Teen Vogue Summit #TurnUp (to the polls!) will take place Friday, June 1, through Sunday, June 3, at The New School in New York City. 5. Inc. Women's Summit: September 14, 2018, NYC
